Logitech MX Revolution troubleshooting

Logitech MX Revolution
Our IT guy at my place of employment was having some difficulty with the Logitech MX Revolution mouse connecting to the USB dongle it comes with. The solution to the problem is nowhere to be found on Logitech's site - or at least too hidden for lazy people like us to try and find. So, he called Logitech customer support and got this rather cryptic (but effective) solution:

Run the Connect utility.
During the sync process do the following:
Make sure Mouse is fully charged (Battery indicator shows device is charged)
Turn the Mouse ON,
Hold Down the Left Button,
Turn the mouse OFF then ON (left Button still held down),
Click the right Button 5 times (left Button still held down),
Then release both buttons,
Cursor should move.

hope this helps some people.
