Get the most from Pandora Radio

Pandora Radio - Pandora.com

Are you a Pandora Radio listener? Personally, I can't stay away from this website. The geniuses at the Music Genome Project certainly have a hit.

Basically, Pandora is a smart streaming radio station that broadens your musical horizons by finding songs similar to the ones you entered, based on the technical qualities in the music. You create your stations based on bands that you like, and Pandora does the rest.

Pandora: rate upIn order to refine your Pandora stations, you have the ability to rate the songs - either a thumbs up or a thumbs down. However, sometimes, the results are less than perfect. Often times Pandora will dig too deep into a song that you rate positively, and narrow your station's variety - the opposite effect intended of a station that is meant to bring you new bands and songs that you may like.

Pandora: rate downThe solution: my lovely girlfriend discovered that if you simply do not give any songs the thumbs up (especially the ones you like most!), but only give songs you don't like the thumbs down, your station will better refine itself - and your Pandora music horizons will be widened. Perfect!

I decided to share this information after hearing her Massive Attack station, which was far more cool than my Massive attack station, which sparked my jealousy and the question, "How'd you do that?!"

Enjoy!
