Large Hadron Collider fires first beam of protons

Large Hadron Collider
The first beam of protons was fired inside the Large Hadron Collider in Geneva today. Let's hope that they didn't create any micro black holes that will swallow the earth.

Seriously though, I'm hoping that some major scientific breakthroughs happen. Perhaps they will unlock the secret of free energy, or wormhole travel, or levitation. Seriously.
