SSD drives not kicking HDD ass like it should (yet)

As prices of SSD (solid state drive) drives drop quickly, it becomes more and more tempting to use one in a high performance desktop or laptop. For the tech unsavvy, solid state drives do not have any moving parts, and therefore are not subject to the same shock damage or mechanical failures of traditional hard drives with moving platters and actuator arms.
The 64GB OCZ core series SATA II SSD drive will set you back roughly $170, and the 128GB version will set you back roughly $300. However, are the speed differences are significant enough to justify the purchase? Not yet, according to my grueling, extensive research (top 3 results on google for terms "ssd vs hdd benchmarks").

It seems that the current SSD's are more bark than bite at this point for overall performance. Maybe there's something I'm missing (feel free to tell me what) but I think I'll hold out on buying an SSD for my own system until things shape up a little (and prices come down!).
