photoshop CS4 slow fix

If you are experiencing an extremely slow photoshop CS4 (especially compared to photoshop CS3), I have the solution for you (updated Aug 31, 2009).

Photoshop CS4 is slow, and I am able to update my software (new).

• For Windows users, download the photoshop CS4 11.01 update.
• For Mac users, download the photoshop CS4 11.01 update.
  

Photoshop CS4 is slow, and I don't care about the 3d features.

• If you are unable to update your software, there is another way to fix the choppy photoshop performance. Simply click on edit > preferences > performance, then uncheck "Enable OpenGL Drawing". This fixed the problem for me, which was choppy layer dragging, panning, etc. Worked like a charm.

Photoshop CS4 is slow, but I want to leave 3d features on.

• In this case, the only solution is to upgrade your video card and/or drivers or get the 11.01 update (see above).
