What a failing ATI Radeon HD 4870 looks like

This is the Asus EAH4870 Black Knight edition Radeon HD 4870. The card has bad ram and this is what it is doing in TF2:

The crappy framerate (especially for what this card can do - i.e. tear TF2 a new one) is attributed to this being on windows 7 beta, with not so great drivers for the Radeon HD 4870 yet.

The nVidia Quadro FX 5800 : a $3500 video card

For those of you with ungodly amounts of money, nVidia released the Quadro FX 5800, a card currently selling for one easy payment of $3500. What makes this card so special? See for yourself:
  • 240 CUDA parallel processing cores
  • 4GB frame buffer size
  • 102 GB/s memory bandwidth
  • 189W of power consumption (manly grunt!)
Other than being able to play Farcry 2, Call of Duty:World at War and Crysis at full settings with one hand behind its back and blindfolded, this card is also useful for people like geophysicists, engineers, and scientists for 4d modeling and "high-performance computation for interactive analysis of complex, multivariate data".
